Gender Justice
The Gender Justice Program by the Centre for Climate Action advances equality by integrating gender-responsive approaches into climate action, governance, and sustainable development. The program recognizes that climate impacts are not gender-neutral and seeks to strengthen the leadership, participation, and agency of women, girls, and marginalized groups in decision-making processes.
It focuses on transforming systems, policies, and practices to remove structural barriers that limit equal access to resources, opportunities, and climate solutions. The program also supports inclusive climate resilience strategies that ensure fairness, representation, and empowerment at all levels of implementation.
Key focus areas include:
Advancing systems, norms, and practices that address structural inequalities and promote equitable outcomes for all genders across governance, development, and climate action.
Integrating gender analysis into policies, laws, and programmes to ensure fair, effective, and context-sensitive outcomes across all sectors and levels of governance.
Strengthening meaningful participation and leadership of women and marginalized groups in governance, peacebuilding, climate action, and development processes.
Promoting legal protections, accountability mechanisms, and equitable access to justice to address discrimination, inequality, and gender-based violence.
Expanding equal access to education, decent work, resources, and opportunities that enhance dignity, resilience, and long-term gender equality.
